The book I'm reading is more like a text book, so there isn't a very clear thesis, at least I didn't find it clear. If there has to be a thesis, it could be why spices are important to the history of human and how they change human life. " The culture's objects of desire Malay have change, but not the impulse."( The History Of A Temptation:Spice, page 141). This sentence shows author's idea that the need of spices by human won't change since from ancient time it became a impulse in human life. The author described how spice became well known in the world and close describe history of some very important spices as pepper. The information provided by the author is pretty accurate according to some other side research. The perspective the stories were told are narrator perspective. But it still focus more on North Africa, Asia, and mainly Europe. The author used some quotes and notes from people but I still need more background research to proved that the information is true. I really don't have any different idea about the subject spice since I don't have any opinion about spice, that the reason for me to pick the topic spice. This book is not fun at all for someone that expect a fun story book. In fact, it is like a history textbook. Many of the author's idea can be found online.
